Director of Elementary and Middle School Readiness

The Director of Elementary and Middle School Readiness provides direct leadership of the Emily K Center’s Pioneer Scholars program and related programming initiatives. The role requires effective leadership of a core staff team consisting of a full-time program coordinator, three part-time  program assistants, sixteen part-time certified teachers and twenty or more college and community volunteers. Strong  program planning, monitoring and administration skills and the ability to successfully engage community volunteers and partners are central to effective service delivery, as is oversight of the development and implementation of  high-quality curriculum and instruction. Postsecondary Transition Advisor

The Postsecondary Transition Advisor is responsible for supporting the execution of the Citywide Summer Melt campaign, an effort to ensure that students in Durham complete the necessary steps required for matriculation to postsecondary education. The Postsecondary Transition Advisor will oversee the identification of a text messaging platform, convene strategy meetings with team members and affiliated stakeholders, conduct outreach to prospective participants, support their successful matriculation in the fall, and follow up with students served after they have enrolled. Pioneer Scholars Lead Tutor

Do you have a passion for teaching elementary and middle school students and making learning fun? Are you great at building relationships with students and their parents and caregivers? Would you be excited to help develop curriculum that supports the development of academic skills and habits that will help students who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education prepare for long-term academic success? If so, please consider applying for our part-time Lead Tutor position with our Pioneer Scholars program for the 2023-2024 school year.
