Clement Early College High School participated in advising sessions with the Emily K Center’s Game Plan: Future program, where they prepared for life after high school and mapped out their next steps.

Game Plan: Future Alum Take the Next Step
Nicholas spent his high school years balancing a busy schedule working at Harris Teeter, playing basketball, and spending a year on the lacrosse team. His dedication earned him acceptances to six colleges, and this fall he’s studying kinesiology at UNC Greensboro with the goal of becoming a physical therapist.
Michael discovered his passion for technology through Digital Brilliance, a program where he first learned to make video games and code. He later became an instructor, teaching students each semester at Durham Tech. Now, he’s beginning studies at North Carolina Central University’s School of Business.
Their mom, Martina, knows the value of education firsthand — not just as a parent, but as a tutor in the Emily K Center’s Pioneer Scholars program. She says watching both of her children find their own paths has been exciting. “Having two children going to college wanting very different experiences has been overwhelming, but the process of applying to college was seamless thanks to Game Plan: Future. We will be forever grateful,” she shared.
Through Game Plan: Future sessions, Michael and Nicholas received resources and guidance to support their preparation for life after high school. We can’t wait to see what they accomplish at UNC Greensboro and NCCU. Congratulations, Nicholas and Michael!
