Emily and Patrick Bryant

January 29, 2026

Emily and Patrick’s involvement with the Emily K Center started in January 2022, when Emily began working as a tutor. At the time, she was a teacher at Holt Elementary, and a colleague reached out to see if she might be interested in supporting students after school. That invitation opened the door to a strong relationship with the Center and its mission.

Educational opportunity is central to why the Bryants choose to support the Emily K Center. They believe that when one student thrives, the entire community becomes stronger. Every day, the Center creates pathways for young people who simply need people to believe in them and invest in their potential.

“What excites us most about the Center’s work is its constant commitment to new ideas that help students succeed and reach their full potential,” say Emily and Patrick. “That support begins the moment students enter the program in elementary school and continues all the way through their college journey.”

Some of their favorite memories have come from attending and sponsoring the annual Mother’s Day Ball. Hearing students share how the Emily K Center has impacted their lives showcases the Center’s work in a powerful and personal way.

The Bryants believe that the Emily K Center is a cornerstone to the Durham community, offering connection and opportunity to every student who walks through its doors. Looking ahead, they hope the Center continues to thrive for the next 20 years and well beyond.

“It’s inspiring to see students begin their journey at the Emily K Center surrounded by a village of caring adults and peers who are deeply invested in their success. It’s equally meaningful to watch them grow excited about their futures – whether they choose college, the military, or enter the workforce right away. We hope that every student who comes through the program is met with every opportunity possible.”
