After much consideration, and in keeping with the guidelines issued by the CDC, the Emily K Center Mother’s Day Ball will not be held on Saturday, May 2, 2020. The health and well-being of our students, supporters, staff, and volunteers is of the utmost importance to us, and we could not in good conscience move forward with the event, no matter how much we may wish we could.

The Mother’s Day Ball is an incredibly important event for the Center, and we are grateful for your support. We are working hard to figure out our next steps, be it a virtual event or a new event date, and we look forward to sharing more details as soon as they are available.

Now in its tenth year, the Emily Krzyzewski Center’s Mother’s Day Ball has quickly become a premier benefit event in the Triangle area. On May 2, 2020, nearly 500 guests will convene at the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club for an evening of fine dining, dancing, and celebration of the students, families, and achievements of the Emily K Center, Durham's college access hub.

For the second time, the Mother's Day Ball will include a live auction. Come ready to bid on exciting items such as:

     - 2021 Masters VIP hospitality experience
     - Luxury NYC package including private jet travel
     - Durham Italian wine dinner under the stars
     - Carolina Panthers luxury suite package

... and so much more!

Tickets for the tenth Annual Mother’s Day Ball are $250 per person or $3,000 for a table of ten with preferred seating. All tickets include a cocktail hour at 6:00 p.m., seated dinner, dancing, and entertainment until midnight. Proceeds benefit the Emily K Center and its mission to inspire students to dream big, act with character and purpose, and reach their potential as leaders in the community. Ticket sales will begin in the spring and additional information will be posted when available.

Interested in staying overnight at the Washington Duke Inn? A special room rate of $159 per night is available for Mother's Day Ball attendees. To book your room online, click here. To book by phone, call (800) 443-3853 and use group code 772323. Rooms must be booked by 5:00 p.m. on April 2, 2020 to guarantee this rate.

The Emily K Center, a nonprofit organization in Durham, was established in 2006 and named in honor of Duke Men’s Basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski’s mother. The Center serves as a college access hub in Durham, North Carolina, propelling academically-focused, low-income K-12 students and graduates toward success in college through its K to College programs while also offering college information and advising support to any local high school student through the Game Plan: College program.

Approximately 85% of the students served through the K to College programs will be the first in their families to attend college, and to date, 100% of these high school students have been accepted to college. Your support of the Emily K Center and events like the Mother’s Day Ball makes this possible. Learn more about our work supporting Durham's youth as part of our Game Changer Campaign by visiting
