The Emily Krzyzewski Center Receives
RTI International Community Partnerships Grant
April 6, 2009, Durham, NC – The Emily Krzyzewski Center (EKC), a learning center that serves high potential economically disadvantaged students, announced today that it has been selected as a recipient of RTI International’s 2009 Community Partnerships Program. Created in 2004, the program contributes to charitable organizations in communities near its regional offices and subsidiaries, as part of its mission to improve the human condition. Representatives from RTI including executive vice president E. Wayne Holden presented a check to EKC executive staff on Thursday, April 2nd.
This grant to support the Emily K Center’s K to College Model is one component of an on-going partnership with RTI. Since EKC’s first full year of operation in 2007, RTI has given pro bono support by providing independent analysis of the EKC’s evaluation tools for the Pioneer Scholars Program. This evaluation of EKC outcomes helps validate the impact of the Center and ensures that information is used critically to guide further development. “This has been an exemplary partnership – the Emily K Center is committed to rigorous evaluation to ensure program impact,” states Leyla Stambaugh, RTI Research Psychologist.
