Dream-Do-Achieve Gift Club

Dear Emily K Supporter:

As the holiday season commences, the Board of Directors at the Emily K Center, are as committed as ever to supporting the ideals that led Coach K to establish our Center for Durham area youth.

“Dream, Do, Achieve” is much more than just a slogan or a logo – it’s been an exciting culture that has blossomed into strength and empowerment for our students, volunteers, parents, teachers and staff on a daily basis.

Needless to say, the last few months have placed all of us on an economic rollercoaster ride, but we feel strongly that this is the time to bolster our efforts to support our students.  We want them to know that we believe in them more than ever – even when times may be tough.

Coach K often tells the story of how he learned the value of giving as a young boy.  Growing up in inner city Chicago, he continually had his wants and needs met from a loving mom and dad.  One day, going to his mom’s closet, he saw just two dresses hanging there and he thought of his own closet which held plenty of clothes.  Emily Krzyzewski gave often – sacrificing her own conveniences and needs for her children and her family.

We want to give our Durham area kids that same hope and leadership this holiday season.  We want to see their dream of being architects, doctors, or even Olympic coaches realized in the future.

In this spirit, the Board has created a special gift club this holiday season to help our kids while also recognizing your value to the Center and giving you a special way to share the gift of giving with your family or loved one(s).  Any gift you give to the Center in November or December will be recognized with a unique Thank You card that can be opened with your family as you share time together during the holiday season.

Your gift for this holiday season will go to supporting our students and continuing the Center’s strong impact in our community.  Every level of support can help our children succeed: a gift of $100 can support books and supplies as they achieve academically; a gift of $250 can scholarship a student who has maintained good grades and done community service into a skill building summer camp; a gift of $1,000 can allow a student to participate in our five-week academic Summer Scholars program; a gift of $6,000 can help fund the cost of our annual student recognition ceremony; and a gift of $10,000 can fund a student full-time in our comprehensive year-round academics, character and leadership development programs.

Coach K’s gift to his family this year will be the gift of giving to the Emily K Center.  As Board members, we too will join his effort and hope you will too.  We thank you in advance for your wonderful support of the Center and we wish you and yours a wonderful holiday season.

If you want to be participate in the Dream-Do-Achieve Gift Club this year, please make a gift in the month of November or December by check to The Emily K Center (904 W. Chapel Hill St., Durham, NC 27701) or by credit card here.  Please be sure to include a note with the recipient's name.  If you pay via credit card, please email this information to info@emilyk.org.
